How to Add Favorite Providers
You can add providers to your Favorite Providers section in two ways:
You can search for a healthcare provider using the provider search tool. Click the Add a Dialysis Facility or Add a Home Health Agency or Add a Hospice Agency or Add a Hospital or Add an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility or Add a Long Term Care Hospital or Add a Nursing Home or Add a Clinician or Group button on the Favorite Provider page.
A pop-up window will open with additional options to search by location or provider name. Once you have found the provider you were looking for, click the Add to My Favorites button. Click the Update Providers List to view the updated Favorite Providers table.
You can also enter the provider’s information manually. On the pop-up window’s search page, click the Manually Add a [Provider Type] to My Favorites button to enter information. Click the Add button to save the provider to the Favorite Providers list.
How to Edit Provider Information
Provider information can not be updated within MyMedicare.gov. Once a provider has been saved to the list, you can only add or remove it. If the provider is of the type “Physicians and Other Clinicians”, you do have the ability to add or update the provider’s address using the Select Location and Comments or Change Location and Comments link.
How to Remove Provider Information
Select the Remove from My Favorites button that appears on the row for the provider that you would like to remove. You will be prompted to confirm the decision in order to avoid accidentally removing a provider.
How to Add or Update Comments
If the provider is of the type “Physicians and Other Clinicians”, you do have the ability to add or update the comments using the Select Location and Comments or Change Location and Comments link
What is a primary clinician?
A primary clinician is the healthcare provider that you believe is responsible for coordinating your overall care.
Selecting your primary clinician can help CMS improve your care coordination!: CMS can use your selection to hold your primary clinician accountable for high quality and cost efficient care coordination. For example, if your primary clinician is participating in a Medicare Accountable Care Organization (ACO), CMS may assign accountability for your overall care to your primary clinician’s ACO. This means that CMS may reward your primary clinician’s ACO for providing you with high quality and cost efficient care coordination or penalize your primary clinicians’ ACO if they provide low quality and high cost care to you. Please note that assignment of your care to your primary clinician’s ACO does not limit your freedom of choice of provider. You may still decide where to receive health care services.
